From 1997 we have a 1905 Replica in honour of Teddy Girl, a much loved companion given life once more by the artisans at Steiff.
In 1904 a Teddy Bear was gifted to a baby boy. The bear became a great friend and long-life companion, even seeing action during WWII, founding the Teddy Bear Club, then helping to run the UK branch of Good Bears of the World – a charity that sends teddy bears to children in need. That baby boy grew up to be Colonel Bob Henderson and his beloved bear – Teddy Girl, who sold at a Christies Auction in 1994 for £110,000, the highest paid for a bear at the time. This 1905 Replica is the same as the original 1904 bear. It was just created at a later date.
Please note the condition of the box in the photos.
Teddy Girl is 50cm / 19.75" tall and fully jointed. She has been sewn from a luxurious and wavy red/brown cinnamon mohair with contrasting wool felt paws and excelsior stuffing. She has glossy eyes, with a smart hand stitched nose, plus a double squeaker concealed within her tummy. Glorious! To activate the squeaker, lift her arms and squeeze simultaneously her torso from the sides with both of your hands, using the strength from your arms as pressure.
This beautiful commemorative piece is a Worldwide Limited Edition of 6,000 bears and will come to you boxed, with her numbered certificate of authenticity.
