From 1998/99, we are exceptionally lucky to have this complete set of 5 pieces. It is a German Exclusive for Fulda Tyres produced on the occasion of the Fulda Challenge in Yukon, Canada – 'The Extreme Arctic Adventure', that features an competitive Annual Yukon Quest, 1000 mile Sled Dog Race. It has been gloriously designed and crafted by the German master teddy bear makers, Steiff.
The set comprises of 3 Husky sled dogs, The Musher (sled driver) doll and of course the Yukon Quest Sled. You will also discover the Yukon Quest Steiff handbook.
The trio of Huskies are 15cm (6") non-jointed sled dogs. They have been sewn from the finest luxury mohair in both short and fluffy piles in white, black and light grey. Each face has been meticulously hand painted emphasising vibrant two-tone blue eyes and muzzle detail, including their hand stitched black noses. They also wear an intricate red harness in anticipation of the event.
The Musher is a 37cm (14.5") non-jointed doll. His wool felt face is a work of art in itself. You can see the contours of his face, his nose, blushed cheeks, wind-swept eyebrows plus his two-tone brown eyes have been embroidery enhanced to bring more life-like detail. He wears the licensed sponsorship clothing suitable for the conditions he is in. A multi pocketed red ski jacket that fastens under his chin with a white fluffy rimmed hood to keep him warm. Being a sport he features the Fulda Yukon Quest Dog Sled logo along with his 'sponsorship', which has to be Steiff and their button in-the-ear logo. Black gloves, boots and suitable trousers complete his look.
The Sled itself has a black metal frame and features the same hued red and logos as the Musher's coat for it's covering. The quest hand book can be located in this box.
To note, all 4 sets, consisting of 5 pieces, come with their original window box. The Musher's box however features 2 white marks on the window (probably glue based), refer to images, however it does not distract from the individual or set as a whole.
The sets do not come with certificates (as supplied) and do not have matching numbers.
