The glorious Dolly was initially released between 1913 until 1918 and was released in 3 sizes 25, 30 and 32 cm in four different body and ruff colour combinations. The reason for her initial design in 1913 was for the United States presidential election, where her ruff was red, her body blue and her head white (which it always is), making her a very patriotic red, white and blue, whilst being designed especially for the occasion by Richard Steiff.
Dolly is a 32 cm / 12.5", fully jointed teddy bear, with a push-tummy squeaker. Like the original 1913 piece, this one is inspired by, she has been sewn from the finest and luxurious white mohair for her head and a pine green for her body, with a vibrant coral red ruff, crafted in wool, plus contrasting beige paws in warm wool felt. At the time, back in 1913, this colour-way was exceptionally rare as only a few were made, making her much sort after. Just as before, she has been lovingly stuffed with wood shavings, with glimmering black, glass eyes and a smart hand stitched, inverted triangle nose and mouth, upon her shaved muzzle in cocoa hued thread. She really couldn't look more seasonal if she tried!
Being a Replica, Dolly proudly wears her patinated 'Button in the Ear' and white ear tag as it would have been seen in 1913. She also bears a modern day white tag, sewn into her left side seam.
This charismatic bear is a Worldwide Limited Edition of just 913 pieces and comes to you boxed, with her numbered certificate of authenticity.
