From 2004, we welcome a bear full of history and elegance, it's Baerle 43 PAB, a 1904 Replica piece celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the 'Button in the Ear' from the magical German maker – Steiff.
Baerle 43 PAB is 43 cm / 17" and fully jointed, with loose disc joints, for that more aged feeling and much-loved bear. He has been sewn from a decadent mohair, reproduced in the same way as the original mohair was in 1904, as a tousled textured blonde and softly-stuffed lovingly with kapok (wood shavings). Like the original, he too features glossy black, wooden shoe button eyes, whilst his four claws upon each paw, distinctive nose and mouth, (upon his shaved muzzle), have all been carefully hand sewn in an albeit light, contrasting thread. Being a commemorative for the 100th Anniversary of the 'Button in the Ear', he wears a patinated steel Elephant button, showing his true importance. In 1904 Steiff pieces didn't feature a tag, so keeping true to this, a modern day tag was sewn into his side seam, just beneath his arm on the left side, beneath the elephant button.
This fabulous piece says so much about Steiff, their history, designs and modern times that it's a must for any avid collector. He is a Worldwide Limited Edition of 7,000 bears and will come to you boxed, with his numbered certificate of authenticity.
Box has a few creases from storage.
