Foxes dwell in some specie or other, upon every continent on our planet, with the exception of Antartica. The most well known and common of the species is the Red Fox and that is who we welcome today. A captivating design by the outstanding German maker – Steiff.
Foxes around the globe have featured in folklore and are always depicted as being the trickster, sly and cunning, which is probably why they are seen as being a nuisance and as vermin. Today due to habitat invasion and decimation, the Red Fox has partly evolved into being urban foxes, residing in the city and towns, surviving off our scraps and remaining in the shadows. This along with hunting to protect livestock, or for their pelts has placed them on the endangered list. Hopefully Red Fox can draw attention to their plight.
The Red Foxes were photographed by Joel Sartore, for National Geographic and their Photo Ark, Species Preservation Project.
Red Fox is 12cm / 4.7" in size and non-jointed. He has been sewn from a mix of luxurious mohairs in short and semi-fluffy piles in russet hues and white, with a fluffier pile plush for his magnificent bushy tail and soft wool felt for his pointed ears. With glossy safety eyes, crisp hand stitched features and delicately applied hand painting and colour shading, giving form and depth, he is quite the mini masterpiece.
Fox wears his Steiff button-in-ear with yellow label and is surface washable only.
