On November 18th in 1928, at the Colony Theatre in New York, Disney screened their premier animation with synchronized sound. That cartoon was Steamboat Willie and its main character, a mischievous deck hand called Mickey Mouse, was introduced to the world and along with him, the delectable Minnie Mouse … the rest, as they say, is history.
In commemorating the 90th Anniversary of Mickey, Steiff have teamed together with Disney in order to design and create a piece, that celebrates and encompasses that first Minnie Mouse, resulting in a pair that stands beautifully together.
Minnie is 38cm/15" tall and non-jointed. She has been sewn from the finest trivia velvet, keeping true to the black and white imagery of her initial appearance. She has the saucer-like ears and three fingered hands, plus her signature hat complete with flower, not forgetting her bloomers beneath her pretty skirt. Along with her extra wide smile, she has applique oval pupils for her eyes, with eyelashes and a neat, 'bulb' nose. Just wonderful!
Minnie is a Worldwide Limited Edition of only 1,090 pieces and will come to you boxed, with her numbered certificate of authenticity. She of course 'bears' her gold plated 'button in the ear' along with a chest tag depicting Mickey as he appeared in Steamboat Willie.
