This beautiful 1929 Replica, is a copy of a bear registered for a patent by Richard Steiff, who wanted to create a bear with cuteness, plus a more expressive, friendly smile. This one too however, featured new designs and a more easily recognisable, characterful face. He would be available in four styles with the name Teddy-Baby D R P.a (German Empire Patent Pending). Unfortunately, TeddyBaby was not patented, but in 1930 he officially obtained the Teddy-Baby Trademark.
Teddy Baby is 25cm tall and fully jointed. He has been sewn, from a sumptuously dense alpaca, with wool felt paws (including his self-standing, flat feet). He has been traditionally stuffed with wood shavings and has enchantingly glossy, glassy eyes. He has four stitched claws on his flat feet and curved paws, with a hand stitched nose and smiling mouth upon his extended, shaved muzzle. His look is unmistakenably Teddy Baby! To finish, a charming tummy squeaker and a patinated steel, underscored button in the ear.
This adorable bear is a Worldwide Limited Edition of just 929 pieces and will come to you boxed, with his numbered certificate of authenticity.
