The premier piece from the Oz Collection is from 2011 and is the Musical Dorothy Bear, by the magnificent artisans at Steiff.
Dorothy is 30cm tall and fully jointed. She has been sewn from a luxurious and dense, blonde mohair with beige wool felt paws. She has two tone brown eyes, with a matching hand stitched brown nose and mouth, for a prettier, softer appeal. A sky blue, satin bow rests by her ear, whilst her blue and white, gingham pinafore has wee button detail. Upon her right foot paw, is an ornately written 'The Wizard of Oz' in ruby red Swarovski Elements Crystals – a magical surprise. Her turn-key for her internal music box, is located upon her back. When activated, it plays the tune most associated with the film and its star Judy Garland, 'Somewhere over the rainbow'. Musical Dorothy is a wonderful pairing with Toto, or her adversary The Wicked Witch of the West or as a quartet with her friends, The Scarecrow, The Tin Man and The Cowardly Lion.
