Plant height is measured from the top of the pot to the top of the plant.
These Leylandii Hedging Plants are supplied in 10 litre pots or 11 litre pot bags which are approximately 28cm diameter x 23cm deep (11” X 9”). The planting hole should be 1.5-2 times the size of the pot, so approx. 45cm wide x 25cm deep (18in x 10in). Loosen the base of the hole for about another 30cm/12” to improve drainage. Mix our professional 12-14 month feed with the soil and backfill with soil or a compost and soil mix. Firm well. Keep well-watered for the first growing season. Leylandii conifer hedging is well known for its rapid growth rate, producing a tall screen more quickly than any other plant. The plants can put on 90cm (3ft) a year and will thicken out to produce a dense, dark green hedge once clipping commences.
They can be kept low with regular pruning, though they can be grown as high as 15-20m (50-65ft).
Leylandii will thrive in most soils and aspects. Their stability makes them good for windy sites too, creating windbreaks.
It is excellent for absorbing air pollution and so ideal for screening off busy roads. Exhaust fumes and noise will both be reduced.
Leylandii are a good choice if you want to achieve a tall hedge quickly, as a stand-alone away from other plants, clipped to a formal shape.
Leylandii costs less per plant than most other types of evergreen hedging especially at the taller heights.
