The Benefits of Planting Laurel
Laurel hedging has large, shiny evergreen leaves, followed by spikes of pretty white flowers in spring and ornamental red berries in autumn.
Fast Growing: With a growth rate of up to 60cm per year, your laurel hedge will thicken up quickly to form a screen around your garden.
Privacy & Noise Reduction: A Laurel hedge can create a dense evergreen screen that acts an effective sound barrier.
Hardy & Low Maintenance: Very disease-resistant and equally happy in full sun or deep shade. It thrives in most soil types, including clay, provided it is not waterlogged (avoid shallow chalk).
Laurel hedging can be pruned once or twice a year to maintain a neat 1.2-2m (4-6ft) height, or allow it to grow into a larger hedge of up to 6m (18ft) tall. For a more informal look with more spring flowers, simply clip less frequently.
If you want to achieve a large, thick, foolproof evergreen hedge quickly, Laurel is an excellent choice.
