Schuco was founded in 1912 in Nuremburg, Germany as a tinplate, mechanical toy company. After WWI they began to produce both mohair and plush teddy bears, with some being miniatures, including this 1930's – 40's Monkey.
Monkey is 7 cm / 8" and fully jointed. He has been crafted from mohair, with digit defined, wool felt paws, that helps to pose him standing. His face is exceptionally detailed, being cast from moulded metal and hand painted, bringing a real glimpse of realism. A double-hand cupped size makes him the ideal, take-me-with-you pocket / bag companion.
Being between 82 and 92 years old, he is in excellent condition. Overtime there has been some minimal wear to his painted face (please see available images), however it doesn't distract from his overall, invitingly friendly appeal.
A little gem!
