This rare and charming set is from Suzannes, Play and Collector Dolls, which ran from 1980 to 1990.
Snow White and Rose Red is a tale best told by the Brothers Grimm. It is about two sisters, who befriend a bear, aid the bears nemesis, the dwarf and break a magic spell, revealling both the dwarf and the bear to not only be brothers, but Princes. For a happily ever after, the Princes marry the sisters.
Included in this fairy tale set is the Bear himself.
The Bear is 33cm tall and fully jointed. He has been sewn from a decadently dense mohair, with a paler hue, for his short pile muzzle, and round black nose. His two tone brown eyes, completes his friendly appeal.
The Dolls are both 30.5cm tall, fully jointed and made from vinyl. Snow White has blonde hair with blue eyes, whilst Rose Red has dark brown hair with matching, dark brown eyes. Both are still wearing their original, packaged hairnets, knitted white stockings and outfit coordinating, coloured shoes.
Snow White is dressed in a white ball gown, with a decorative jacquard print, contained within wide stripes. The gown has a high collar, long netted puffed sleeves, plus white rose pick-ups upon the skirt.
Rose Red is also dressed in an elaborate red ballgown, with a decorative, jacquard rose print. Rose bloom appliques adore the neckline, whilst large red rose pick-ups, add more glamour to the skirt.
This fabulous trio come in their original box, 61cm long x 33cm tall, which has some slight signs of wear, which you would expect due to age, but does not at all detract from the appeal of this enjoyable set.
Steiff Snow White and Rose Red, is a North American exclusive, Limited Edition of only 2,000. This one is numbered as 864. They will come boxed, with their numbered certificate of authenticity.
