In celebrating the 80th Anniversary of the release of Pinocchio, Steiff and Disney have collaborated in this creation of the fabulous Jiminy Cricket, who was appointed by the Blue Fairy (who magically bought Pinocchio to life), as a guardian and conscience.
All Geppetto wanted was a boy, so the wood carver created himself a puppet and named him Pinocchio. Upon knowing of this wish, the Blue Fairy brings the marionette to life, informing him that if he wishes to be a 'real boy', he has to prove it by being brave, truthful and unselfish. Easily lead astray, Pinocchio gets into trouble, and changes occur from an ever-growing nose, to donkey ears and a tail, but with a little help from Jiminy, Pinocchio learns what's right. He becomes brave, truthful and unselfish, earning himself his prize, whilst Jiminy receives a solid gold badge, certifying him as an Official Conscience.
Jiminy Cricket is a delightful 20 cm / 7.8" in size with a turn-able head and move-able arms. He has been sewn from a luxurious kiwi green mohair, with warm wool felt for his ensemble. A long tailed, black coat, incorporated white gloves, light olive trousers, light mustard waistcoat, high-necked white collar and yellow cravat. He wears yellow spats and blue shoes that match his hat and to finish his gentlemanly look, a red wool felt umbrella with yellow accents. How can you tell that it's Jiminy? By his wonderfully embroidered facial details and expression that brings his character to life.
This integral part of Disney's history is a Worldwide Limited Edition of only 1,940 pieces (the year of the films release) and will come to you boxed, with his numbered certificate of authenticity.
