This remarkable bear is a 34cm, 1912 Replica, Mohair Teddy Bear with Growler beautifully crafted by Steiff. 1912 is fully jointed and sewn from the finest mohair, with contrast claws and nose, plus a sweet sounding growl. The idea for this special bear comes from a collector in England, who thanks to the fabulous description given to a case of old dolls and bears at auction, was inspired to bid and won. Upon receiving said goods, she opened the case and whilst unpacking came across something fascinating – a black mohair bear with no-markings, immediately she suspected that it could possibly be a Steiff. In confirming such a provenance, she discovered that the bear was indeed a Steiff piece from 1912.
This enigmatic 1912 Replica piece is a 34cm, fully jointed Teddy Bear sewn from the finest, jet black mohair with hand stitched claws and nose in a contrasting shade. He has been stuffed with wood shavings and has the glossiest, black glass eyes. An elegant yet flamboyant satin bow, complete with his characterful growl makes him a wonderful piece to behold.
