from 2010 we are proud to introduce to you, Steiffs 28cm tall, Brown Alpaca – Rupert Bear.
The original image of this much coverted piece, reigned the covers of numerous Rupert Annuals from the 1930s upto 1973, as a Brown faced Rupert Bear. The illustration colour change from brown to white was a decision taken by the publishers to help with costs, resulting in the white face Rupert that we know and love of today.
Rupert is fully jointed and sewn from a decadent brown alpaca, with stitch defined digits. He is adorned in his much loved, red wool sweater, with his famous yellow checked scarf and trousers, plus genuine leather shoes. His features have been captured just as Mary Tourtel originally portrayed them, resulting in an appealingly, friendly companion.
This exceptional and rather elusive Bear to find, is a UK and Ireland Exclusive, Limited Edition of 1,973 pieces (the year of Brown Faced Ruperts last appearance). He comes boxed with his numbered certificate of authenticity.
