This wonderous bear contains so much history. It was made exclusively for the German Postal Museum in Germany, in 2000. It marks the date when the postal service went public and became known as Deutsche Post DHL. It was designed and created by Steiff and given the name Shampus.
Shampus is 32cm tall and fully jointed. He has been sewn from a decadently wavy, champagne coloured mohair, making him the premier piece, to have been produced this way in Germany. He has large glistening black eyes, with friendly hand stitched features. He has matching wool felt paw pads, with his left pad having been embroidered in royal blue with his name, Shampus and the year 2000. A silky royal blue neckerchief, edged with gold stitching, plus a gold embroidered German Post Horn, brings in the modern with tradition. Tradition being the horn, which is the only element indicating German Postal Services, with the blue and yellow for the new uniforms and postal box colour.
Shampus is an exceptionally rare find and is a German Exclusive of just 1,500 pieces. He comes in his original box, with his numbered certificate of authenticity.
